I missed the AR in the TF. You know it doesn't do anything in there, right? Although I guess if you were moving it with her... [;)]. It might not do anything, but it sure feels better![:)]

Is this one of those mods where you get a lot more of the little utility ships? For some reason I thought you were playing a DBB variant?

It is DBB, I only have two AR right now. Making quite a few more or will.

Jan 14, 1942

A few naval battles east of Batavia...

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (5/28/2017 12:47:03 AM)

During the morning we close on the destroyers...they were escorting Achilles back...but she is damaged in the tiny port of Cheribon ... which got visited by bombers but they failed to plant any bombs on her.

A CM lays a small minefield overnight at Denpasar, and is attacked twice by subs and even hit once...but the American torpedo fails to explode.

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (5/28/2017 12:48:39 AM)

Sambas falls near Kuching...

I fail to take a squadron of Oscars off sweep and they are hit hard by the Allied fighter cap over Singers (includes Lightnings).

I seriously doubt the Argonaut went down...I seriously doubt any sub went down, but I will take a hit.

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (5/28/2017 12:51:05 AM)

Odd, I sent orders to make for Tapui, but they end up here instead. I won't complain since they reduced the flooding a bit, and are in port somewhat safe with an undamaged AR to assist in repairs.

Lord_Calidor -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (5/29/2017 9:39:10 AM)

Yamashiro crew heard about the famous Tawi Tawi exotic dancers, so while the support and AR ship staff are filling her holes, seamen thought about filling some holes, themselves. All in the name of spreading the Great East Asian Co-Prosperity spirit, of course.
In comparison, Tapui is said to have half a bowling lane and a ping-pong table.

From the repair estimate listed... change her to Repair Ship, my friend.

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (5/30/2017 2:25:22 PM)

You know, I thought once I bounced the other ships out of port...then her pierside would improve...but that is not the case, and repair ship is indeed the best option.

Lok, do you ever get tired of being correct?[;)]

No ships in port...

Jorge_Stanbury -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (5/30/2017 2:37:13 PM)

Repair ship mode is needed only when you want to give the full focus of an AR to a specific ship, useful mostly for ARDs, when you might want that ship XX gets all the float repair capability

EDIT: added mode, repair ship mode, just to highlight I am not taking about the value of an AR

I would had focused on Oi first, as Yamashiro is really out of the war until sometime in mid to late 43 regardless

Oi will repair in a few days at Hong Kong....

Once I get Yamashiro back to Honshu...she will repair much faster than that I think...

Jorge_Stanbury -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (5/30/2017 3:40:55 PM)

Would reparing at the main shipyards in Honshu, I don't have the game on hand, but assuming Kure is the biggest shipyard there... would it be significantly faster than a slightly smaller shipyard, but still big shipyard like Hong Kong?

Lok and Alfred are the experts here, but it really depends. Do you play the repair game? Or do you just dump every ship into the shipyard and wait?

Using naval support squads, ARs, and lots of little micromanagement tricks you can really supercharge the repair rate on ships.

Search Alfred's posts for his repair ship opus...or search Lok's posts on it....

Frequently. It's quite frustrating, actually.

Chickenboy -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (6/1/2017 2:20:37 PM)

Anybody have a line on Obvert? He hasn't posted since 5/20 and hasn't responded to a PM sent on 5/23. Lowpe-do you have any further indication of prolonged absence?

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (6/1/2017 2:51:37 PM)

He has said it is the busy time of the year at work for him, and I was going to let the turn sit with him till tonight my time, say another 8 hours before questioning him.

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (6/1/2017 3:18:22 PM)

Just got a turn, so all is good.

Glad to hear it. Thanks for the update. [8D]

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (6/3/2017 7:29:52 PM)

I see I flipped a turn and forgot to post an update. Allies have the turn now...last turn saw 4E beasts strike Palembang doing little damage.

Another couple of bases fell in Mindanao...including the Z base that cranks out a minimal amount of supply. Got that undamaged.

Should take Prome, Tarakan this turn plus an invasion west of Ambon all coming up....lots of ships and troops moving.

Singers is now showing the Prince of Wales and 21 other ships...I suspect we are in for another round of ship battles.

It is taking me about 2 days to flip a turn now, since Jocke's game has priority, and both games are utterly fascinating. However, I hope to flip at least one turn today and tomorrow since Jocke is gone till Monday.

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (6/4/2017 4:17:52 AM)

Jan 16, 1942

I flipped the turn and didn't take any pictures...sorry. The most boring turn of the war so far. Japan splashed some more PBYs and a few other Dutch planes. Kirishima bounced a 500 pounder.

The base next to Ambon is invaded, will take care of Ambon in two days.

Shem whatever next to Attu is taken.

Djamabi...big oil base taken north of Palembang.

Prome in Burma taken...

IJN fleets massing around Singers for a big showdown. I am going to do something that might be very reckless tomorrow or the next day...just getting ships and ake's into position.

KB making for Miri and fuel and hopefully fresh planes.

Beasties raided Palembang, but Zeroes are there strong enough to beat them off with no hits. Might have destroyed one or two.

Lowpe -> RE: The Dutch are the first to Die! (6/5/2017 12:26:49 PM)

Jan 17, 1943

Three relatively quiet days and tomorrow will not be...as the IJN will bombard Singers which is quite the Festung!

Here is hoping we don't run into too many mines, I am not too worried about the CD guns as the this will be a max range bombardment.

I believe my early conquest of Palembang stopped early supplies from getting into Singers, and you can see the lack of a Mersing Invasion has allowed the ABDA to concentrate a lot of forces here in Singers.

More fireworks coming up!

Any chance for a peek at the TF going to Singapore? Double and triple check the Escorts Bombarding. It will be interesting to see how this works. Most of us live in fear of the Singapore CD guns for very good reason.

I have to break them all down and rebuild the task forces...which I haven't done yet.

But you will see it all happen...

Lowpe-san, you have piqued the interest of many-a-virtual-samurai already. Here's a toast of freshly brewed rice ale, topped with vintage sake '28. in hopes of great success for your bushido fueled Emperor's warriors! [sm=00000436.gif]

This was the plan all along...with this map, and letting the Allies escape everything into Singers.

I am hoping there will be a three day delay for a lot of the ships to come out of shipyard/pierside mode so that I can really bombard Singers and cause a lot of hurt.

Of course, it could all backfire, especially if the Allies dropped a 1000 mines there. The one bombardment I have seen of Singers (done by GreyJoy as the Allies) was a complete and utter failure prompting him to concede defeat.[X(]
