Soviets get 35 pilots per month with at start pool of 420. So may be enough, but I will look at the late 44 and beyond reinforcements as their pilot quality was poor coming from Europe.

Other suggestions:
The two AMC TF south of Suva to.... West of Oregon or between Sumatra and Ceylon to get at all those CW transports.

One Glen sub and two fleet I-boats from off Pearl to south of Gilberts - lots of Allied warships to hunt for.

Subs off Midway to between Adak and Dutch Harbour - harassment of Allied attempts to reinforce the Aleutians.

Preload the bonus TF at Ominato to head for Adak at start. Include small TK to fuel the subs now up there, but not able to reload TTs.

Any thoughts on converting DD's to APD's. As the Allies I did it when possible. What about as the Japanese?....GP

As Japan, I converted those without Long Lance (61cm) torpedoes. The rest are a matter of personal preference, I think. Study the upgrade/conversion trees of each, and choose the end result you want... or at least that is what I do.

The torpedo thing is a good point. I haven't considered that....GP

How about this as a Russian compromise. I can have a Training unit arrive Jan 1, 1943. Allows for more training if wanted...

Michael thru out his thoughts. Are there any other suggestions/changes?

John 3rd -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/13/2020 4:44:20 AM)

Inventory took longer then planned tonight so I shall finish things tomorrow morning. Figure OFFICIAL release tomorrow or Thursday. Job well done I would say!

Thank You guys.

Still time to note something if you spot it.

John 3rd -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/13/2020 4:23:10 PM)

Completed files sent to all play-testers for BTSL--BTSH. They are now in their appropriate Scenario Numbers of 055 (Heavy) and 060 (Lite). Have also uploaded them onto the RA Site.

Well done to all the play-testers.

Now...

"Let slip the dogs of war!"

ny59giants -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/13/2020 4:54:08 PM)

Artwork?!?

John 3rd -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/13/2020 9:18:35 PM)

I want to celebrate a little releasing the Mods before we get artwork handled. I know I have nearly everything--just have to organize and FIND it!

btd64 -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/13/2020 9:23:12 PM)

Nomad -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/14/2020 5:29:23 PM)

It seems that the BTS-L files are not correct, they are the same as the BTS-H files.

Kitakami -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/14/2020 6:50:14 PM)

If files need to be corrected, could the suffix for the George be changed from -A to -J now that they are no longer CV-capable in this mod?

Kitakami -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/14/2020 8:25:59 PM)

Also, I just noticed... the French CL Emile Bertin enters as a reinforcement... twice!

John 3rd -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/14/2020 9:40:51 PM)

Home. Will work on this ASAP.

Nice catch on the Frenchie!

Will check the George out.

John 3rd -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/15/2020 12:45:42 AM)

BTSL is now CORRECT and sent to play-testers as well as corrected on the RA Site.

Kitakami -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/19/2020 5:33:45 PM)

As I went through China on my BtSL turn 1, I noticed the following:

- 90th Chinese Corps starts the scenario 1 hex east of Nanyang, prepped 60 for Changchun (106,41 in Manchukuo).
- Chinese 4th Group Army starts the scenario 2 hexes from Loyang (86, 42), prepped for Tsingkiang (84, 61... 2 hexes from Pescadores, on the China coast).
- 47th Chinese Corps starts the scenario 2 hexes from Sian, also prepped for Tsingkiang. The other units belonging to 4th Army Group are prepped for Sian, though.

These may be errors.

John 3rd -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/19/2020 8:15:30 PM)

Great looking. Need everyone else looking as well. Post stuff here still so we can check and update.

Who is playing what right now?

Kitakami and I are doing BTSL.

In vanilla scenarios it starts in San Diego [;)]....GP

I set the George, Frank, Tony and Sam factories to 30. Is there anything else to setup in the early part of the scenario? BTSL is the scenario that Larry and I are using....GP

Kitakami -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/23/2020 12:34:18 PM)

BC Chichibu is still magenta & black. Just met her. She is not nice!

Probably good with that for short- and medium-termed Fighters.

Bearcat2 -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/24/2020 1:21:16 PM)

I don't want to distract from your AAR, posting here.
I have your latest version, evidently there must be some corruption on TO&E; my problem[ the Recon Kates default upgrade is to Jills; but doesn't cost anything to change to the Judy's]
G-6 [actually like the G-8 design, it would have been interesting to see if the blast damage to the full length flight deck from the 2 8" triple turrets underneath the flight deck was significant] The designed aircraft complement would have been 1930 era biplanes
G-6 787 feet at WL; beam unknown, considerably less than the Soryu, but not necessary to compute hanger ratio.
Assuming the drawings are correct a WL of 787, the dual hangers were 472 feet in length.
To convert to a full deck CV, the hangers, using the drawings and comparing them specifically to the Soryu and generally to Akagi/Kaga to determine where they would begin, you get additional 162 feet in length for dual hangers of 634 feet, basically a 33% increase.
The G-6 hangers and flight deck would have been built on top of the armored deck
The designed aircraft complement would have been for 1930 era biplanes

John 3rd -> RE: BTS Play-Testing (5/24/2020 2:43:16 PM)

Hey Bearcat. Much better place for the discussion.

I use info and the drawing on Page 46 of Jentschura's Warships of the Imperial Japanese Navy, Jordan's Warships After Washington, Pawlowski's Flattops and Fledglings, and Layman's The Hybrid Warship. It is the G.6 design with all three double 8" turrets up front with the flightdeck behind.They start with 30 planes and expand to 54 once the conversion is complete. Their initial air group is 21 Z, 6 K, and 3 K-R. It upgrades to 33 Zero, 12 Val, and 9 Kate upon completion. The CAV class starts at a displacement if 17,500 T which was slightly more then Hiryu. The ships are quite rugged by Japanese standards and the only time they came back to this level of hull/deck strength was Taiho.

Your comment on the Kate-R going to Jill is a mistake on the upgrade path. I will look into that. It SHOULD be to the Judy-R. If you're right, that is a BIG catch and I appreciate it a bunch!
