I just thought the pic was funny. I just copy/pasted the adress to another window when the IMG link didn't work.

How can you say that blunt trauma euthanasia methods are humane? Even if the object of the blunt trauma (airplane) is travelling at 500mph, it's still not a recognized means of humane euthanasia. You guys are full of contradictions-the airline should be sued for animal cruelty!!!

Is it more or less humane mincing them up before passing them through a furnace and firing the remains into the atmosphere at several hundred miles per hour?

About the same, only much more 'entertaining' for the spectators. Hey Steve-o: any close encounters of the worst kind with our fine feathered friends at 1,000 feet?

Many. When I was 15 and taking lessons in a Cessna 172 we hit a bird (with the prop). I've been in planes that hit (and were hit by) everything from starlings to turkey buzzards (with a couple of seagulls for good measure). Even one large bird (we couldn't ID the remains) that hit the right windshield and caused a deicer short (blowing a hole in the side window (we were below 10K obviously ) so no explosive decompression, but it being winter in Maine, it was a cold flight.

I recall there was one report (not us) in the mid-80's of a bird strike above 14k....which led to a lot of jokes about watching out for birds with oxygen masks!

You've never had a bird fly into your windshield? They like to "car surf" off the air disruption the car causes. Sometimes they miss! I once say a seagull really screw up and smashed into the radiator of the car in front of me! MASSIVE amounts of feathers and gore !

I have a question for the dog experts.  Our recent adoptee is almost completely blind.  Some shapes and shadows according to our vet.  Problem we have is that he goes completely comatose during the day and then he is up wandering the house all night.  A cat digging in the box or when one jumps from their perch sends him into home defense mode.  He has a really good woofer on him.  My question is how do we get his day/night cycle swapped back to normal?

0 to 007mph: Aston Martin £25,000 super bicycle that uses car technology that James Bond would be proud of

By Daily Mail UK

It takes seven people two weeks to make and costs £25,000 to buy.

And the high-tech gadgetry on Aston Martin’s new road bike could just be enough to tempt James Bond onto two wheels.

Dubbed the ‘world’s most technologically advanced’ bike, the elegant One-77 was based on the firm’s £1 million namesake supercar and was launched earlier this month.

Project manager Simon Roberts poses with the new Aston Martin super cycle, which comes with a £25,000 price tag:

And while 007 won’t find any on-board rockets at his disposal, there is more than enough to impress even the most dedicated of cyclists.
An on-board computer and touchscreen display details 100 items of information including speed, temperature, rate of climb and power. It also measures ECG, respiration rate and core body temperature.

The state-of-the-art bike even has a Bluetooth connection to share data with smartphones and other devices.

Dubbed the 'world's most technologically advanced' bike, the elegant One-77 was based on the firm's £1 million namesake supercar and was launched earlier this month:

But, in common with its automotive namesake, there will only be 77 ever made.

And while the £25,000 may seem steep to most the firm which built the bike has already received four orders from Australia, Japan and Brazil and seven more inquiries.

The bike was designed and built by Norfolk-based company Factor Bikes which makes components for the motorsport and aerospace industries.

The firm, a subsidiary of bf1systems, has spent the last year developing the One-77 bicycle at their technical centre in Diss.

A team of 15 specialists began work last year to design and make the bicycle on behalf of Aston Martin.

Despite the wallet-busting cost, the firm which built the bike has already received four orders from Australia, Japan and Brazil and seven more inquiries:

Simon Roberts, project manager at Factor Bikes, said: ‘We are using a lot of electronics in the bike to take lab data measurements on the road and there are components we use in motorsport that we have adapted for the One-77.

‘The cranks measure the left and right leg power 200 times a second and the electronics on the handle bars measure things like GPS, heart rate, temperature, humidity, and altitude.’

The cutting-edge road bike, one of the world’s most expensive, comes in seven different colours, including classic racing green.

Staff at Factor Bikes are already working on their next generation bike, which is set to be launched at the end of the year.
The firm and bf1systems provide components for vehicles in Formula 1, Indycar, World Rally and Moto GP and has a client list including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin and Maserati.

I'll take two.

How does renting beer work?

You 'rent' beer because intake and output will eventually come to a steady state. If, after a few hours, you consume 9 liters of beer you will-in comparatively short order-have to dispose of 9 liters of processed beer by one means or another.

Besides, Mike is a girly man with regards to beer consumption. Please don't use the USS Mike metric and assume that all Americans as as effete as he is.

I am so gonna plunk down two bottles of rum the next time we're together!

Oh my...

It's a Canadian scourge around these here parts. [turns to magnetic north, adjusts for 'true' north, shakes fist in general direction of Canada]

Canada geese are increasingly nuisance species in the upper midwest. Some of them have decided that the whole 'migrating thing' isn't their bag and decide to take up residence and reproduce wherever they are.

There are some lakes-fed by power plants or natural springs-that are on their migratory flyways that don't freeze over. These lakes are literally covered over in Canada geese in the winter months. Their copious feces contaminate lakes, rivers and other bodies of water too.

I say there should be no bag limit on 'em. We'd knock the numbers down pretty well within a few years.

Rochester, MN, has a small lake in the center of town that is warmed enough by a power plant to prevent freezing over in the winter. It's name used to be Silver Lake, but it's been known for years as Goose Poop Lake.

Hmmm...I may have to look into that...

It is a proposed Canada bag limit. The U.S. Wildlife Service may have something to say about that; since that is who has the final say on the matter.
Now Snow's have a pretty big bag/possession limit. I'm not sure how big though. I'll look it up.
If you're considering making a foray up here, I have some primo waterfowl land. Sometimes flocks of over 3,000. And the further west you go, the bigger the flocks, at times over 20,000 or more. It's pretty cool to watch at sunrise over 100,000 geese take to the air from off the water.

Who needs wetlands? Down here, you can hit your 30 bag limit by walking on the sidewalk in front of my office building and grabbing them by the neck with your hands.

Big, tough, manly hunters.... my ass!

Um hmmm...makes perfect sense:

The Rules of Cricket

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.

Each man that’s in the side that’s in goes out, and when he’s out he comes in and the next man goes in until he’s out.

When they are all out, the side that’s out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.

Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.

There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.

When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

The sad part is that I understood that completely.
