Nov 4-5, 1944 The Allies unload yet another unit, an independent infantry regiment, onto Ketoi on the 4th. He's serious about getting this base finished soon. A massive Chinese force walked into Paoshan over the last weeks and I had been curious how much. Now I know. It's 4,400AV against my one division with level 5 forts in the x3 mountain hex!! The CAP stays in place at Pegu for the 4th and does well. Losses are in favour of the IJ but Spit sweeps take their toll. On the 5th I had to pull them out to regroup, but the flak does so well it doesn't matter. The Allies lose about bombers to flak at Pegu alone. The Allies try a DA at Pegu which goes well for the IJ, keeping forts at 6 and resulting in heavy Allied losses. The Allied forces at Ketoi finally overwhelm the defences. The base falls into Allied hands. So that was about a three week battle. I'm very curious what happens next here. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR Nov 4, 1944 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amphibious Assault at Ketoi-jima (134,50) TF 573 troops unloading over beach at Ketoi-jima, 134,50 Allied ground losses: 194 casualties reported Squads: 1 destroyed, 37 disabled Non Combat: 1 destroyed, 17 disabled Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled Guns lost 7 (0 destroyed, 7 disabled) Vehicles lost 16 (0 destroyed, 16 disabled) 13 troops of a USA Rifle Squad 44 lost from landing craft during unload of 31st Infantry Rgt 15 Support troops lost in surf during unload of 31st Infantry Rgt /3 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morning Air attack on 122nd AA Regiment, at 55,53 (Pegu) Weather in hex: Light cloud Raid detected at 78 NM, estimated altitude 46,000 feet.
