Great. Full complement (24+3) plus a few - all the Supernumeraries.

If only we had full complements for the bomber units or even half.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (11/8/2007 4:12:47 AM)

roger that

I been doing better with getting some pilots for the CW bomber units

with the US or most GE units, I can at least find the COs and some others, the CWs are really HARD to crack

JeffroK -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (11/22/2007 3:46:45 AM)

Hard Sarge,

Congrats in getting such a detailed database together.

To keep the feel right, will the US fliers be loaded as per the screenshot ie: Fl Lt Stanley.M.May and the CW as Fl Lt Stanley May.
The US and CW had different ways of presenting their names, we generally ignore the initials in our names?

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (11/22/2007 8:03:49 AM)

Hi Jeff

over all, the names are close, I am using what the docs I find list them as ?

one that is odd, I find alot of the CW pilots use there middle name instead of there first name in there docs

I do know, that alot of the docs, only show letters instead of full names (which can be a pain, since there may only be 300 A. Jones who flew for the RAF)

which I hate to say, I have been working over the grave lists, that gets depressing

I do know, that it looks like the CW pilots have a lot more middle names then the Yanks do :)

von Shagmeister -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (11/22/2007 10:52:43 AM)

RAF docs varying considerably in the naming conventions they use, seems to depend as much on the clerk typing/writing the docs as much as anything else. It's quite common on the F.540/F.541 for NCOs to have no ititial(s) listed at all whilst Officers usually have at least their first initial listed. I've never seen complete full names given on these docs though that doesn't mean that certain Sqns didn't do it.

In USAAF docs that I've seen they certainly seem more likely to give a full first name and middle initial(s).

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (11/22/2007 12:45:08 PM)

Roger

what I mean is, you can find a listing of say G. Wilson, but if you dig the guy up, you find that his name was R.G.F. Wilson

and roger, you not going to find there full names on any of the docs, but the grave lists and the award lists tend to give the full names

BB57 -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (1/23/2008 10:08:11 PM)

HS I'm not sure if you are aware of this site or not. It has a lot of the crews that flew with the 100th listed.http://www.100thbg.com

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (1/24/2008 8:20:59 PM)

nice site

I got alot of info on the 100th though, but, still a good site

thank you

BB57 -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (1/25/2008 3:45:23 AM)

Your welcome. Looking forward to the finished product. Thank you for all that you and your team are doing to make this great game better.

II/33, got him

should add Jimmy to the 445, I think some of the stuff I read about him, was having him as a non flying Officer, but that was later in the war, when he was with 453 (he flew 20 missions with the 445, but his records show no missions flown with the 453, he wouldn't record them)

(you threw me for a loop with the 443, that was a transport outfit :)

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/10/2008 4:45:40 PM)

okay, I see it

in Dec the 445th flew into England and started flying missions

in March 44, he took over the 453rd as Oper Off

in July he went to staff duties with the 2nd Bomb Wing

stuff I was reading lately, had him with the 2nd Bomb Wing, and out of action

he was awarded 2 DFCs, a Croix de Guerre, a Air Medal with 3 clusters

he went from Private to Col in 4 years !!!

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/10/2008 7:47:26 PM)

see what you did, had to find crews for the 453rd

my eyes feel like they are turned inside out

but got the info I was looking

soeren01 -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/11/2008 10:45:46 AM)

von Shagmeister -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/13/2008 3:30:15 PM)

I think some of the experience ratings are on the high side for non aces or pilots who weren't aces at this stage considering most pilots who are already aces as of 17Aug43 are given an exp rating of 85.

ie for 418 Sqn RCAF as of 17Aug43 here are some of the pilots you have included with an exp rating of 85 who I think should be rated lower or not included at all (or given a delay).

Stan Cotterill had 0 kills at this time (no combat exp) and was serving as an Instr with 6 SFTS (Canada) and didn't join 418 Sqn until 02May44

Robert Kipp had 0 kills at this time (no combat exp) and had just started a nightfighter conversion course at 60 OTU after serving as an Instr. Joined 418 Sqn 02Nov43.

John Caine had 0 kills at this time (no combat exp) and joined 418 Sqn from OTU during Aug43.

James Johnson had 0 kills and 2 months combat exp at this time

James Kerr had 0 kills at this time (no combat exp) and was undergoing operational training at 36 OTU (Canada) after serving as an Instr. He Joined 418 Sqn Feb44.

Donald MacFayden had 0 kills at this time (no combat exp) and was with 12(P) AFU awaiting operational training (previously an Instr in Canada). He joined 418 Sqn Dec43 from 60 OTU.

Charles Scherf had 0 kills at this time (little or no combat exp) and was probably with 60 OTU (or possibly had just joined 418 Sqn).

Here are a few extra pilots for 418 Sqn as of 17Aug43 with number of kills and actual rank at this time. Suggested exp rating is based on known biographical data.

F/L Beveridge, Massy Williamson; 0 Kills; Suggested exp 70
S/L Frey, Juliusz; 1.83 Kills; Suggested exp 85 (Flt Cdr or Supernumerary)
F/O Jones, Herbert Ebsworthy; 0 Kills; Suggested exp 75
F/L Lisson, Harold Stanley; 0 Kills; Suggested exp 75
S/L Moran, Charles Cecil; 2 Kills; Suggested exp 80 (Flt Cdr)
W/O Sims, Mervyn Harold; 0 Kills; Suggested exp 75

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/13/2008 11:53:41 PM)

Thank you

you got anybody for 438 ? (I know, it not active as of Aug 17th)

von Shagmeister -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/14/2008 11:17:21 AM)

Hi Sarge,

I've very little on 438 Sqn other than C/Os and a few late war casualties.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/14/2008 11:25:39 AM)

yea, i know, that is why I was asking :)

now that I got enough pilots for 418 (and others, I can start resetting there delay for the later war pilots)

von Shagmeister -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/18/2008 6:20:41 PM)

22PS/7PRMG (as of 17Aug43), most experienced pilots have only 1.5 months combat experience, many have none.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/19/2008 4:01:22 PM)

Odd, lots of FO's, most units I see, FO's were pretty rare, wonder if it was a recon thing (like a TO@E thing)

Hard Sarge -> RE: Real Life Pilots For Inclusion (2/19/2008 4:21:30 PM)

well, I had two of them, will add these and make changes to the ones I had to put them on delay

you have anything on 3 ? I am totally blank with that outfit so far, GR II/33 could use some pilots :)
