Actually Luskan has a job that is central to the social security of this country (he works for Fosters) [:D] and so finds himself rather busy at this time of year.  Fear not dear readers the yellow peril will be back very soon !

Raver,

I am going to visit family tomorrow for Thanksgiving (here in the states) and I asked if they wanted me to bring any fried banannas, roast banannas, or bananna pie.

They said NO!.

Some people just don't know how to enjoy themselves...

Flipper

Ha Ha ha ! I laughed my arse off reading that !

I understand totally. Tonight on way home from work picked up a bottle of Koonunga Hill Cabernet(from SE Oz) for the Wifeunit MkI and a 1.75L bottle of Baileys mostly for me and some for her.

All hail the likes of Luskan[&o][&o][&o] who help keep our two lands well stocked with nice things to drink during the year.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Mate I hate to be the one to break this to you on a public forum, but Baileys is a GIRLS DRINK ! Good to see that the wife unit MKI has better taste.

Luskan -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/24/2006 9:59:47 AM)

And I wouldn't wash my car tyres with Koonunga Hill, but then, I know what it costs the business to make!

Well, things are creeping along slowly - work is crazy this time of year and a REFUSE to rush turns to Raver when I get home after midnight.  I know how that ends.

Bert & Boris have launched, they're on schedule (although Boris had a last minute objective change when sigint info came in! Only useful piece of jap sigint I've ever seen . . . ) and Elation drones on.

In other news, I'm unable to crush the isolated, baseless supplyless survivors north of Davao - they'll starve soon enough.  My troops from Lamon Bay have cut Naga off from the supply base at Manila, and i'll be grinding Naga down to nothing pretty damn soon (won't be a lightning blow because I've spread myself a bit too thin in that area - all will be revealed why VEERY soon).  Turn wise that is.  Might take a week or two.

Raverdave -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/25/2006 2:39:03 PM)

Yeah yeah yeah..............stop flapping your gums ratbrain and send me a turn !

Luskan -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/26/2006 2:35:48 AM)

This time you've got the turn!!!!!

Honda -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/26/2006 1:41:52 PM)

lol!
Comedy of errors or theatre of the absurd?[:D]

Raverdave -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/27/2006 1:04:01 AM)

Monday morning...........I didn't get chance to reply to any turns in my in box on Sunday as I was busy with Coast Guard.....got home Sunday night only to be called back out.   To make matter worse I have to do overtime tonight (till at least midnight) so it will not be until Tuesday that I get start sending turns out. [:(]

Oliver Heindorf -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/27/2006 1:38:31 AM)

keep your heads down !

Raver at duty !

[:D]

Mark VII -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/27/2006 7:41:16 AM)

Be sure to fill us in on any HOT damsels in distress that needed to be rescued![:D][:D][:D]

Raverdave -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/27/2006 8:08:51 AM)

I wish Mark VII,  mostly wet and cold fishermen.  [:(]  Thought (hoped) I saw a mermaid once but nah, just a dumb seal sunning him(her)self in the water.  Although there is a nude beach within our patrol area................frequented by old men [:(]

Luskan -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/27/2006 9:37:51 AM)

You get used to Raver loosing turns, forgetting things, senile as he is.

I'm proud to announce that Boris has landed - my troops are storming ashore at Singkiwang (sp) under the cover of a thunderstorm, keeping Raver's air farce away for the moment.  He doesn't have many surface combatants in range anyway (airpower at Kuching is worth it).  Bert is a little bit behind schedule, but hiding under the storm (I'm pleased - hasn't been spotted) but Elation is likely to suffer in the storm and this may rock the boat so to speak.

Otherwise it was a fairly quiet turn - my troops grind forward in Burma, Malaya and the Phillipines, while Raver bombs my BBs at Lae (hits one for no damage) but my zeros don't do a great job on cap.  Too busy joyriding.

Raverdave -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/28/2006 4:37:47 AM)

Bah humbug !   I shall be home tonight to pass on a turn to you scumbag .

Luskan -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/28/2006 10:50:49 AM)

I'm not holding my breath.

You'd think Raver would want to get the early part of the game over and done with so he can get to his death star tactics etc.

Raverdave -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/28/2006 1:46:01 PM)

Well the turn has been sent..............so whats holding YOU up ?

Luskan -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/28/2006 1:52:23 PM)

Ok - this was a bit of a bad turn for me, although things could be worse.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/12/42
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TF 6 troops unloading over beach at Singkawang, 25,57  Operation Boris half over - I'll strom Pontiniak in a turn or two.

Japanese ground losses:
92 casualties reported

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TF 94 encounters mine field at Soerabaja (22,65)  Ouch.  Fortunately no real damage (14 sys) she'll do a quick refit once I've got Singapore.

Japanese Ships
CL Oi, Mine hits 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Naval bombardment of Soerabaja, at 22,65 - Coastal Guns Fire Back! - I'd sighted a lot of ships in Soerbaja in single ship tfs.  Thought Raver was getting cute so sent some heavies in to clean them out and bombard the place . . . only I set them to do not retire.  Unfortunately all the tfs were subs.

Anyhow, the bombardment was a success (Raver lost over 20 aircraft on the ground that turn) and put the airfield out of kilter.  Unfortunately Raver had lots of torpedo bombers at a nearby airfield that scored lots of hits on two of my BBs.  Good thing the torps weren't that big, or at least not that deadly.  I messed this up - they should have retired.

Good news is they're both under 30 sys, 30 flt and 30 fire so they'll both survive and make it back to a big empty repair yard in Japan.  I'd guess 2 months out of action for the Ise, and about 4 for the Yamashiro.

Boris is still held up, Elation still going forward.  Not a lot else happening in theatre.

Raverdave -> RE: Quiet Turns (11/28/2006 2:23:06 PM)

Success ! Success ! Success ! Success ! Success ! Two BBs with holes in their sides.....and from the Dutch no less !  There's some mud in your eye banananana boy !   Time to do the happy dance.

Capt. Harlock -> Dutch Air (11/28/2006 10:36:28 PM)

Nice work from the Beauforts -- but why did you set the Martins to bomb from 15,000 feet? Were they simply a distraction?

Raverdave -> RE: Dutch Air (11/29/2006 12:37:24 AM)

Nope..............I  "forgot" to adjust the hight. [8|]

Raverdave -> RE: Dutch Air (11/29/2006 12:32:26 PM)

Hey ratbrain............WHERE IS MY TURN???????????????

Luskan -> RE: Dutch Air (11/29/2006 1:31:54 PM)

Well, I hate this part of the game.

Yamashiro was er . . . more damaged than previously announced, so I ordered the TF to STAY TOGETHER and move at BEST SPEED (TOGETHER) towards friendly air cover.  It should have been fine except they split up, Yamashiro was left ON HER OWN moving at MISSION SPEED!!!!! and so got torped again this turn and sank.  Just stupid.  Another two hexes (she would have got there at full speed) and she'd have been under a zero LRCAP.  Another few ships in the tf and the flak would have counted for something.

Yamashiro sank by game issue, not by anything useful Raver did.  Very irritated about the whole thing.  Glad I'd had a few drinks before watching the turn or I'd have been upset.

In other news . . . nothing much.

Raverdave -> RE: Dutch Air (11/29/2006 2:05:44 PM)

IIRC you have to set the Tf to Escort mission, which means that they will stay together...........at least thats how I think it works[8|] And it was MY torps and MY planes that sunk your BB......NOT the game mechanics [:-]
Stupid ratbrained banananana boy.

Oh and did I mention the fact that I SUNK A JAP BB !

pauk -> RE: Dutch Air (11/29/2006 3:37:56 PM)

Pardon me, Raver, but did you mention that you sunk Japan capital ship?[;)][:D]

Mark VII -> SUNK JAP BB (11/30/2006 12:47:25 AM)

Did I hear that a Imperial Japanese Navy Battleship was sunk?

BrucePowers -> RE: SUNK JAP BB (11/30/2006 4:25:24 AM)

What was that again, a Japanese battleship was sunk? Ooooh, how nice in an allied fan boy sort of way.[:)]

wworld7 -> RE: Aussie Affair III - This time its personal! (11/30/2006 6:30:55 AM)

Newsflash...BB missing in the South Pacific...

UPDATE: Survivors of SUNK BB stranded on island with no natives.

Only crates and crates and more crates of banannas!

Mass suicide expected shortly...

But don't be sad as it was a JAP ship.

Hip, Hip Hurray!!!

Raverdave -> RE: Aussie Affair III - This time its personal! (11/30/2006 8:33:10 AM)

Don't ya just love it....not a JFB in sight ![:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

There is one still reading this thread.

Raver gets his first kill of the war.  So far he averages about 1 of those per game year . . .

Me thinks that dispite all of the bluster and froth coming from bananana boy he is not doing as well as expected.  Consider the following:-

Manilia = still in my hands
Singapore = still in my hands
Java = still in my hands
Rangoon = still in my hands

Luskan needs to step-up his tempo of operations or he is going to get caught.
