JudgeDredd -> RE: Price (4/17/2010 8:43:38 PM)

oh - and meant to say - the thread moved off being about the price long, long ago.

Nebogipfel -> RE: Price (4/17/2010 9:09:26 PM)

Did I say, that other views arenīt allowed? No I didnīt.

Did I say that I think the price is too high. No I didnīt.

Perhaps you read my post before supposing things ........

JudgeDredd -> RE: Price (4/17/2010 9:45:57 PM)

Well, we could post on and on verbatim, couldn't we.

You didn't say other views aren't allowed - by this comment
quote:

someone criticizes the price of a product (that is what every customer is allowed to do!) and instead of playing their game all fanboys seem to post the whole day in this price thread
you inferred it.

The upshot is your post (all 3 on this thread which you so amusingly called "interesting" then proceeded to call people with an alterative view to the game being too expensive "fanboys") is even more useless than the one I apologised for. At least I had some constructive advice before I turned infantile.

oh - and

Did I say that I think the price is too high. No I didnīt.
I didn't say you said the price was too high

Nebogipfel -> RE: Price (4/17/2010 11:23:43 PM)

You said, others then my view.........without knowing it.

I should have pointed out, that I donīt call everybody a fanboy, who is posting here different views.

I apologise for that too and for the "fanboy".

I followed the whole pointless.. .point talk (you apologised and itīs ok).

The last post with "its not too expencive, you canīt just afford it", is not the thing you say to grown up men. Thatīs what put me up.

I donīt think the price is too high, I have other complaints (other thread). But everyone thinking so should be given a chance to express that, without getting treated like a child.

At last I didnīt mean you Judge. I followed the thread from the beginning.

JudgeDredd -> RE: Price (4/18/2010 12:42:53 AM)

Well, I think the thread ran its "useful" course very early on....I have to admit to my involvement in making it useless and a "head banging" contest.

What I would say is this...everybody has a duty to let Matrix know they cannot afford a particular game. It is also the duty of people who are a fan of that engine to tell people what kind of value for money they are getting.

Having said that, I'll bow out now and will say that in future, I wil try and be less of an arse [:D]

parusski -> RE: Price (4/18/2010 12:56:20 AM)

Actually I thought the food at the new cafe was excellent. But we saw the movie "The Wolfman" and were bored silly. Just wanted to let my friends know I have not forgotten them or our previous discussions. It's important to stay on topic, beat a dead horse, always cry wolf......

Ron -> RE: Price (4/18/2010 3:07:39 PM)

I tend to agree with the "It's not expensive, you just can't afford it" statement myself and all that implies.

"keeping up with the Joneses" is another way to put that.

I prefer living below my means and investing and saving the rest. I would buy generic rather than name brand any day and statements like that above are extremely arrogant and condescending.

What many of you are ignoring is that most of us that had issue with the price bought the game.
Eric did a good job explaining what happened and I was satisfied with that.

Whats annoying is that some customers feel such a strong sense of ownership to SSG titles that they have told paying customers to go away if they voice concerns or make suggestions.

I would suggest that some of you are not doing SSG or Matrix any favors. If I was in a storefront and having a discussion with a store manager/owner and you butted in I would let you know in a very unfriendly manner to mind your own business.

95% of you would never butt in like this in the real world and the other 5% would be considered rude and foolish.

Waffenamt -> RE: Price (4/19/2010 4:54:24 AM)

I can afford it but I haven't bought it. and there were 2 things in the manual that royally p@^%*d me off - the aforementioned deal forATD owners on buying the add-on and the idea that this was scaleable to support Battlefront type scenarios and then we were told that it would only be 4km/hex. TBH I didn't get that warm glow with DotD, and shelved it within a few months. I only like to focus on a few wargames and I took a chance on this one but I can safely say it's been my least satisfying wargame purchase over the last 5 or more years. Granted, the add-on has again piqued my interest, but until I wade through the tutorial again I'm not allowed to venture to the Matrix store. Problem is - wading through the tutorial is just that! I may turn back before my feet get stuck too in the mud. Just my opinion ...

Regards

I wish I had seen your post sonner. You could've gave an "alternative" view to a couple of people that asked me about Kharkov.

And Targ, I apologised for my initial posts and I think I've redeemed myself by putting a fairer argument forward. I'm not arrogant enough to think you were specifically aiming it at me, but I took the post to include me because I think I was the first person to suggest if people didn't like the game price, they should bugger off.

Whilst on your post, I agree most people (myself included) tend to forget that we wouldn't act in such a way in public and I often try to remind myself of that prior to posting...and sometimes I fail.

However, if I was to walk past you in a shop and heard you saying you wouldn't buy this game because of the price, I probably would interject and say "I wouldn't worry too much about the price - it's a great game that you'll get hours out of". I don't see that as rude.

On the other hand, if I was to walk past and hear the same comment and respond with "Well, if you don't like the price, then put it back", then I would consider that as rude also. Of course I would never do that - but I did here. [:-]

Waffenamt -> RE: Price (4/20/2010 12:45:15 AM)

... and I don't want to come across as too rabid, in case my venting sounded a few notches louder than it should have been. I *wil*l get through the tutorial before I pass further judgment, and I do appreciate that some of the smaller game companies are putting in a lot of time and effort for this niche. I probably will end up buying ATD, since in spite of everything this is a top notch gaming system and I'm very interested in the battles of that period and place.

It always amazes me that scum like this abounds. [:@]
