Turn 9, and it is very similar, believe me I have sent as much industry east as I could. Would have been worse if he had moved faster[:D]

Will have to remember to leave the turn showing on at least one screenshot

Problem we both have..."MOVING INDUSTRY"....Industry then "damaged" and out of production for awhile. We will both be much,much better off by turn 25!

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/2/2011 9:22:31 PM)

OK, it is turning into a grind around Leningrad. He attacked twice in the area and although his tanks advanced his infantry was not nearly so lucky. Even the successful attack was costly to him[:-] which is what I want.

Also this is all after my moves, prior to sending turn

Rzhev - N Moscow front, going to continue swinging this position back as long as I have no reserve behind it. Terrain is my friend here. Notice the fortified zones, decided to build some for defense.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/2/2011 10:14:29 PM)

Kharkov front, notice all the empty forts, had to pull back here due to the line being penetrated south of here. Am not going to get encircled any more than I have to. He is finishing off the pocket he formed last turn and I am sure he will continue marching onward this turn.

Southern front, comments on map. If he cuts off units down here that's OK[:D]. I have ground to give him here.

randallw -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/3/2011 12:09:47 AM)

What are you going to do with that 2 unit stack of 11 CV with a tank div in it, near the Psel river?  I hope you don't allow it to be surrounded.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/3/2011 2:02:52 AM)

Sorry to say randall I think I just missed them[X(]. It is why I am not a real commander of troops[:D]

randallw -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/3/2011 7:14:59 AM)

What you can do is stick your head really close to the monitor and look at the jump map; each one of your units is a little red dot.  Click the cursor on it, and it'll be in the big window.  You shouldn't miss it then. [:D]

ComradeP -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/3/2011 2:33:08 PM)

Miller: the divisions on the Dnepr in the AGS area are located in swamps, and will have to be attacked across a major river. If there's a point where AGS's advance will be stopped, that will be it unless he gets really lucky. If there would be divisions in level 1 or 2 forts there, he can forget about crossing.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/3/2011 11:56:08 PM)

Well Comrade i sure hope so because I have not been able to keep him from anywhere else so far.

Randall, believe me I try[:D] but maybe a 27" monitor isn't big enough. Perhaps i should use my 42" LCD for this game[&o]

krupp_88mm -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/4/2011 2:58:49 AM)

[:D] You know I really never paid any attention to that but if it is keeping people away I will change it[&o]

End of August 41 turn (turn 11) and I finally had an attack which was successful[sm=sterb032.gif]
Before I post that lets look at the losses, they are still ok, but after you see what happened down south where his armor is, you will see that they will go up next turn[sm=00000007.gif]

Here is the Leningrad turn showing my attack, I couldn't help it, he stuck that infantry division in that noose so I attacked.

South of Moscow I am gearing up to fight him if I can, have alot of Armor and my best leaders here to try and slow him.

Kharkov, where alot of his armor is, he got a pocket formed but it is not to big.

Notice not many reserves east of the line. [&o]

CarnageINC -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/4/2011 5:27:09 AM)

With all those swamp area's its going to be a very tough fight to get across.  Keeping your cav back as a fire brigade?

krupp_88mm -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/4/2011 5:31:27 AM)

ahh thanks, much better, i am no longer getting motion sickenss, and the dog is cute too, looks smart as well maybe it can replace a frontline soviet general, lol

karonagames -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/4/2011 9:54:23 AM)

I hope you don't mind a comment on your Kharkov defenses. I can't tell from the SS whether the double stacks contain HQs or not, but generally when you are "checkerboarding" you don't need units stacked a a single unit's ZOC is a good as two, if you did have single unit stacks you would have enough units to be digging a reserve defence line further East.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/4/2011 12:21:27 PM)

Please always feel free to comment BigAnorak, it is how i learn. I guess as an old board gamer and also an HPS player stacking units just kind of got into my DNA, going to take time to break that habit. Will start trying to use single units and use excess to dig in. I think part of it may be HQ range also as I tend to put my HQ's to close to the front instead of keeping them 5 hexes back and spreading units out behind them to dig. Learning is such fun[>:]

Klydon -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/4/2011 1:46:56 PM)

Just two cents from the cheap seats, but along with going with single unit stacks, I would look to get my cav out of the front lines and put them on digging duty if nothing else. Infantry units are a dime a dozen, but cav divisions are the first units that you can form into corps and the timing on forming them is good since it is Dec 1; just in time for the winter offensive.

Interesting game and I have been watching it.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/4/2011 11:55:37 PM)

See it is little gems like this that I need. Will do as i forgot about the cav divs forming corps in December[8|]. And before you ask no I have not read the ENTIRE rulebook, I do have a life you know[sm=00000946.gif]
