Tophat1815 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/5/2011 1:22:48 AM)

I feel you miller.........[:D] Worry not,I have a hopefully very bloody Moscow Fight coming and very possibly if he has more infantry coming up a nasty Leningrad fight as well.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/6/2011 3:13:48 AM)

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 1:51:58 AM)

Leningrad front, he attacked here on a narrow front, looks to want to cut the city off but doesn't look to me that he has the strength to do it.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 1:53:05 AM)

Kalanin front, basically static right now

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 1:55:26 AM)

Moscow front, I feel more secure here than I did 2 weeks ago, it looks like he is positioning his forces for the winter, still not sure yet but that's how it feels.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 1:57:42 AM)

Orel front, now here things are not so good, he punctured the front and encircled some units, but I have managed to position my troops in some depth so I hope to be able to keep his advance in check next turn.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 2:00:47 AM)

Now here is a real mess. He beat the crap out of me on this front. Going to lose alot of men next turn. Luckily i have reserves in the area and have dropped back and just like farther north am trying to do the defense in depth thing[sm=00000106.gif]. It is ugly as he has alot of armor here. I did evacuate the T-34 factories from Kharkov, was not going to lose those[:-].

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 2:03:25 AM)

In the south am fighting to hold the river but will probably lose it as he fought across and I couldn't drive him back. Will fall back next turn regardless as the front farther north probably will not hold.

A couple of comments so far. One thing it is taking me time to get the feel of is that you never see the enemy move, all you have are the battle reports. They are fine but don't really give you the feel of how your enemy is moving his troops. Maybe this never happened in the real war but I would think you would have some Intel and recon to show troops moving. Not a real problem, just something to get used too.

Soviet reinforcements are really plentiful, far more than even i was expecting, and I have read alot on this front. Of course i have not suffered the same casualties as the Russians did historically, so many of my divisions are closer to TOE than they probably were in real life. If you play the german side, you REALLY NEED to kill Russians any chance you get.

Command and Control for Russian side is very difficult early on, there are so many changes from turn to turn it is very easy to overload HQ's and leave others commanding nothing. Using the commander report has made this much easier. I always check it before I end the turn to make sure things are not to far out of control. You can make many changes right from that report, which does cut down on the micro management.

I cannot speak for my opponent, but i really am enjoying the game so far, it is challenging as heck and even if you lose you will enjoy the ride.

Helpless -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 2:36:32 AM)

Can you please post your production screen(s)? Thanks.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 3:12:44 AM)

Rats Helpless,I already sent the turn using the server, so I can't access it to take a screen, at least as far as I know, will post those next turn though for sure. Sorry[sm=innocent0004.gif]

jjdenver -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 3:54:24 AM)

Ah Miller I think your opponent is in for trouble. You are surviving summer 41 in great shape on all fronts it looks like. Casualty ratio is not very good for Germany either. Congrats.

randallw -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 5:06:13 AM)

You might want to double-stack defenders in the cities....or not...it depends on the chance they'll be surrounded. [:'(]

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 12:29:02 PM)

Thanks denver, but I am not counting chickens just yet[:D]. I feel like things are ok but it could turn quickly.

randall your right but like you say they are targets to be surrounded and frankly once the factories are gone they are just another hex[:'(]

That might be one thing developers might want to look at if Russian side appears to be to easy, make it a little harder to move factories out right away (maybe by adjusting the railroads some) and make the Russians commit to fighting for territory more, I have basically fallen back from every position after just some resistance and in real life i think that would not have been palatable. Just a thought, maybe I am just having better luck that some others (like Tophat[:D] )

randallw -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 6:25:35 PM)

The amount of evacuation by the Russians during the war is considered impressive; the amount of rail capacity in the game may be in the correct spirit of massiveness.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/7/2011 10:59:51 PM)

The spirit of MASSIVENESS[sm=tank2-39.gif] I love that phrase....

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 8:12:48 PM)

here are the production number for you helpless, it is turn 13 (Mid Sept)

[image]http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv320/miller41/turn13production.jpg[/image]

randallw -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 9:34:53 PM)

You've done a decent job of force preservation.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 10:10:07 PM)

Thanks randall, it is made easier by my opponents lack of really deep penetrations, and it can be done against this defense, you should see my other game[;)]

Anyway here is the Leningrad position. I am thinking he is starting to set positions for the winter here, i don't think he has the force to take the city or even cut it off so he is more passive. I though he might come from Novograd and flank the weak position farther south but he hasnt.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 10:21:15 PM)

Here is Kalanin front and my thoughts

randallw -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 10:28:55 PM)

You might want to get some rifle units in the rough hexes as backup, east of the Pola.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 10:30:30 PM)

Moscow front, looking safer every turn[:D]

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 10:45:20 PM)

Would if i had any to spare man[:D] but they are all committed right now, next week I will though. I normally rest new divisions for a week at least before i send them up.

Here is Tula Orel front,am facing alot of armor down here and the front may not hold. I may lose both cities but it that happens mud will hit and that's fine with me.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 10:51:51 PM)

Kharkov, not sure yet of this area will hold or not, I don't see much armor but that doesn't mean it isn't there[sm=00000959.gif].

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 10:59:40 PM)

Stalino front, could be trouble here as well. As shown in previous post if he wants Kharkov he will send this armor north to take it.

randallw -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 11:01:16 PM)

Next time you may want to try a tougher defense in front of Kiev, to bottle up AGS; beyond the Dneipr you get in trouble with all this open space that is Panzer Fun.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 11:03:43 PM)

And the Crimean front, will slowly pull back as Crimea has been digging in for weeks

[image]local://upfiles/8844/26DED86744294FB596866BD5B6CA0F12.jpg[/image]

randallw -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 11:06:45 PM)

You should be deep enough in the game to have a big pile of admin points.  Your southern area has a mix of units with Southern Front, Stavka, Western Front, and North Caucasus; you may want to get some order to them, maybe put some Army HQs in and have some combat support helping out.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/8/2011 11:08:51 PM)

And just in case you thought I forgot, losses for turn 13[:D]

And actually randall I have used admin points for alot of stuff so I don't have much left. Will sort those commands out when the mud hits.

Also this pics are after my moves, although I have not ended the turn yet, will do that now and send it.

kfmiller41 -> RE: Road to Oblivion GC Miller41 (R) vrs Belphigor (G) (1/9/2011 6:53:14 PM)

New turn in, he had driven spearheads in several areas but no breakthrough's or encirclements

Loses
