2011 has provided us with plenty of challenges, and we have to be remember that they only make us stronger.

With that said, let's start off 2012 with a very welcome bang!  [sm=00000436.gif]

15 minutes, Bruce.  It's half the distance of my previous drive.  [:)]

Hi all,

My Brothers, with a heavy heart, I have to pass along more sad news this evening.  I received an email reply from Des' son this evening that he has lost his long battle with illness.  [sm=sad-1361.gif]

Here is the email that his son, Basil, asked me to pass along:

Hello Mike,

I am Bruce (Des) Wallace's Son,
I am just tiding-up his affairs and correspondence.
I have the sad news that my Father passed away on the twenty eighth of November 2011, after a long Illness.
I am sorry to have to give you this news, and could you please also pass this news onto his other gaming friends
Basil Wallace.

The only words that come to mind are that I've lost a friend.  It matters not that we never met in person.  Des will be missed.

I am very sad... goodbye Des... you will be missed... [:(]

Hi all,

And Des was so high spirited up to the end... one of his last posts at the previous "THE THREAD!!!"... [:(]

Hi all,

Today for the first time ever since I am here I reported another person to the forum authorities... I simply can't believe how low one can become...

vettim89 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (1/3/2012 3:21:16 PM)

Leo,

I have to agree regarding Des and his high spirits. My last message from him was dated 14 November. He was relocating to his sister's home which was a one-floor plan. Said he just needed a few weeks to get settled and then he would be back to gaming.

Cheerful and considerate to the end. He was a true gentleman

Tim

AW1Steve -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (1/3/2012 3:23:32 PM)

Well we lost two long time good citizens of the forum yesterday. Sadly we lost the wrong two. [:(]

I think I'll extend my "sabatical".

jeffk3510 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (1/3/2012 3:38:41 PM)

Sad news over a usually joyful time. Herwin and DivePac will be greatly missed. Didn't know Herwin as well, but still knew who he was.

I can't believe that troll, however, I am not suprised...

Don't extend it!!!.. but I understand why..

Anyway, Happy D+3 New Year.[:)]

Treetop64 -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (1/3/2012 4:13:39 PM)

Dean's list in engineering. No insignificant feat there.

Unless we're talking about driving trains, in which case it's probably a bit less academically impressive, but no less cool.

Historiker -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (1/3/2012 4:56:48 PM)

I just read that Herwin passed away, too...
May Des and him rest in peace... [sm=sad-1361.gif]

After reading that article, I'm relieved. I expected a different hybrid.

You know...sharks with freakin' laser beams coming out of their heads. That's all I wanted-sharks with freaking laser beams.
