Ok, I might be warming to a Portland strike.

Might be. Enough to start planning out how to do it.

I mean, I don't know for SURE that it's base forces and engineers. There's almost certainly some kind of combat unit present there, given the total troop/gun numbers, but the number of units, number of planes based there, and number of "AFVs" make me think there is a combination of USAAF base force(s) and Seabees (maybe also USN BFs).

With that number of units and the number of planes, there's no way there's a full strength division there (which is about 10-13K troops).

Oh, I agree with you Lok on your estimate. Less than a division, but still nasty. But how to deceive long enough to land many divisions at 100 percent prep, after having probably the day before really pounded Astoria (but not yet invaded).[&:]

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/14/2016 3:11:45 PM)

Here is a cut and paste from my new Onenote system for organizing and planning, this in the fighter section.

Andav -> RE: Manila Falls (1/14/2016 3:12:32 PM)

Avoiding Allied Signet will be impossible as well. You will need to have a lot of other units planning for other targets to provide some from of fog in the reports. It will still be difficult to avoid tipping your hand since unit locations are reported fairly often. If a unit is on the Russian boarder it will be fairly easy to discount it's target.

Correct, Andav, and thanks for reading. Your input is always highly valued![&o]

I struggle with this daily![:D] And to be honest, it is one of the reasons why I liked the San Diego operation. Easier to mislead a Portland/Canada attack and sneak in at San Diego (or at least I think so). Who would invade near San Diego when you already have bases in Canada/Alaska?

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/14/2016 4:30:05 PM)

In today's action I am bombing Vancouver, sweeping with Tojo IIa, and LRCAP with A6M5 and A6M3a. I want Jocke to see the new fighter models & despair.[;)]

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/14/2016 5:15:39 PM)

Attacks in China escalating. Forcing retreats soon, I hope.

First third of August, 1942

On to Tuyun and hopefully out of the nasty terrain soon.

What's going on outside of Liuchow? What are those Chinese doing there?

Just some Zombie corps that Jocke wants me to kill off for him.[;)]

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/19/2016 6:39:25 PM)

The game has slowed down substantially, because of me, I hope to get a few turns in during the rest of the week but it will be spotty as I am traveling.

Here Jocke is sending ships and planes forward again. Probing, always probing.

The IJA is a day or two from shocking across into Ledo...

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/20/2016 4:14:20 PM)

We are across at Ledo...close to a 1-1.

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/22/2016 10:36:56 PM)

A little surprise for Jocke...

Success in China...another town falls.

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/22/2016 11:35:20 PM)

The first attack at Tuyun. Should fall soon. Chinese starting to setup a defense in depth along the road, but the supply malus is very telling, plus my thrust here is very tank heavy.

How intact did you take Lanchow?

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/23/2016 12:22:08 PM)

Lanchow is still Chinese. It will probably be a month before that city falls. I bet the industry gets destroyed.[:(]

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/26/2016 11:24:56 PM)

Three feet of snow, plus travel, put a crimp in my ability to flip turns, should be back to normal now.

I am bombing Spokane's runways today...90 plus enemy bombers, 40 fighters there. Sweeping, LRCAP with new models the A6M5 and the A6M3a.

Mostly, I am just shipping things here and there.

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/29/2016 3:28:52 PM)

Mid August, 1942

Still bombing the west coast...I think I picked up 2 victory points from it yesterday. Allied flak is nasty at all the best sites so I wander afar.

Here in India, Jocke has broken his units down in the open from his big stacks. I bombed the 19th Indian yesterday with 9 Lillies and inflicted 75 losses, but he has only inherent AA there. The 19th is trying to capture my stack of about 230 AV to the north (that does have AA).

Today, I will bomb the heck out of the troops to the south and west from the 19th, but heavily sweep the 19th. Hopefully Jocke uses some of his 165 fighters at Calcutta to defend and that is the air to air matchup I have been waiting for to sweep his LRCAP.

The following day then will start the destruction of the 19th Indian by air as I will hit it with everything I have. I am hoping to greatly use my air force here to punish his or his troops with no AA.

This of course will force Jocke into creating monster stacks again, and they are scary.

I will be attacking Ledo again today, I have twice the AV and lots of artillery there. Hoping the base falls in about 1 week.

[image]local://upfiles/44178/3F5313CF1E914F91AD4B3DD431DA8C2E.jpg[/image]

The the southernmost lone allied unit, which I expect is something speedy, is going to get hammered today by Japan's air force. The Oscar IIb will make their debut (strafing), along with Nicks, Lillies, Sallies, Helens and Anns. All the other areas are being swept by Japanese fighters and I have more bombers enroute. I am really hoping to deliver some strong bodyblows to the ground forces that lack AA and or force Jocke to LRCAP his ground forces. I think he may pull back and focus his forces however, but that buys time.

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/30/2016 4:34:08 PM)

I guess it worked...no Allied fighters in the air anywhere.[:(]

[image]local://upfiles/44178/0B9A26BE6F184617836FF3580A5DBBEA.jpg[/image]

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/30/2016 4:38:21 PM)

Now the air focus will turn up here, to help rescue my troops (about 230AV spread across 5-6 units.

The 19th Indian divsion is due south, while 7 Aussie units are to the west and one more unit to the north. Total Allied forces are about 3 divisions.

Darn, those boys move fast though.

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/30/2016 4:41:37 PM)

Tuyun

A 1-1 attack reduces forts to 0, a fresh Japanese ID arrived yesterday, and we will prosecute another attack on the morrow.

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/30/2016 4:44:59 PM)

Oops, the Chinese got here first...beat me by a mile.[:)]

Interestingly enough, the automove from Ankang to the north is thru the mountains, and not west along the road, which means I believe the supplies travel that way too. Not sure on that though...we will see how this impacts supply in the north.

I have two divisions seeking to regain the road.

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/30/2016 5:01:44 PM)

A little plane thoughts.

Latest research:

I know a lot of players deride the Tojo IIb, but in a PDU off game, quite a few Nate sentai's upgrade to them (I think 3 off the top of my head). This is a substantial increase in the defensive fighter strength offered by the Tojo line.

Currently I have two Tojo squadrons, but generally speaking Jocke doesn't fly CAP much especially where he has an AA festung.

In my way of thinking, the Tojo is the high altitude ftr (20K), while the Zeroes and Oscars are all down low in the neighborhood of 5k to 10k and can really put a hurt on enemy bombers or get the P38 down under 15K which plays into my manuever advantage.

All that is my way of saying I am looking forward to the Tojo IIb in my holistic zen approach at playing Japan with combined forces and frames.[:)]

It seems like I will be with the A6M5 and A6M3a for a long time.

Only 100 pps away from buying out this gem at Fusan. Horn Island prep was originally chosen by Olorin.

They are going to the West Coast somewhere!

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/30/2016 10:18:19 PM)

Got the turn finished, and a few attacks to look forward to:

Bombing the 19th Indian. Strafing some other stragglers. Plenty of sweeps in India.

Bombing Bremeton and sweeping Seattle.

Another deliberate attack at Tuyun.

Tomorrow will be another attack at Ledo. Need to clean that up fast. Will attack Lanchow in another day too. Sian looks like it will be attacked in a week or so.

Lokasenna -> RE: Manila Falls (1/30/2016 10:22:41 PM)

Upgrade those AT guns.

Lowpe -> RE: Manila Falls (1/31/2016 1:34:15 PM)

August 19th, 1942

Tuyun falls...now to shock across the river and then hopefully out of the x3 terrain.

No Allied CAP anywhere...
