rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 7:55:49 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Trade.

1. Germany modified their trade deal with Italy. Germany will still be sending 4 RPs to Italy, but now 1 will be an oil.

2. The USA cancelled it's trade deal, or more precisely it's oil giveaway, with the CW.

3. The USA implemented a new trade deal. It's with Free France and includes 1 oil and 1 BP per turn. After this turn and after Free France get (has) an oil point, this deal will be modified to 2 BPs per turn.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 7:57:05 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1942. Initiative.

1. The allies win the first roll 9 to 8 (no modifier).

2. The axis elect not to re-roll.

3. The allies choose to go first.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 8:34:23 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1.

The USA and CW take a naval, France a combine (that was a minor mistake), China and the USSR a land.

France taking a combine instead of a naval was a (minor) mistake. I had to use a US HQ to reorg a French CP instead of the TRS I put out to sea for that purpose. Live and learn. More on this mistake later.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 8:36:01 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. RN. Italian Coast.

The RN successfully forces a naval combat off the Italian Coast.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 8:37:41 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. RN. Italian Coast. Naval Combat. Round 1.

Though heavily outnumber and outgunned, the first round goes to the Italians.

Both sides stay but fail to find the other so the naval combat ends off the Italian Coast after this initial round.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 8:39:00 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. RN. East Med.

In the East Med the RN tries but fails to initiate a naval combat. That suits the Italians just fine.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 8:42:30 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. RN. Cape St. Vincent.

The Western Allies beef up their convoy escorts and ASW patrols off the Cape of St. Vincent. Neither side tried to initiate combat. The German u-boat unit did successfully intercept and force an RN transport escorted by the BB Nelson to stop in the sea area. The RN could have forced combat but with the u-boats roll of 1 the RN decided to stop and not fight through the area.

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. USN. Central Pacific.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 8:54:36 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. USN. China Sea.

In the China Sea USN subs initiate and commit to naval combat in the hopes of finding and sinking Japanese convoys. The Japanese fly in a NAV to the 0-box to provide air cover to their convoys. Both sides search rolls rail so no combat.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 8:58:21 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. USN. The Marshalls.

The USN decides to try to initiate naval combat, both sides fly in additional air units and neither side finds the other. No combat.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 9:00:15 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. USN. The Marianas.

Though both sides had an option to try to initiative a naval combat, it was impossible for the USA fighter units, with no air to sea factors and the IJN heavy cruiser to battle. So both sides wisely choose not to try to initiate combat.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 9:01:34 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. USN. The Solomons.

The USN decides to try to initiate naval combat. The IJN flies in a NAV which then gives them the upper hand in the sea area. However, neither side finds the other. No combat.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 9:06:06 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. USA. HQ Reorg.

The USA uses Eisenhower to reorg the lone Free French CP docked in Dakar. It's not that the Western Allies need this "additional" CP as it is that they need to major port of Dakar. With the French CP there, it cost them a -1 MP because of the mix nationality. Now that it's organize it can move from port.

The mistake the French player made was taking a combine which meant that it cost the USA 2 points to reorg the CP. If they, the Free French, had taken a naval then the cost would have only been 1 point and the USA could have used the TRS put into the 0 box of the Cape Verde Basin for that purpose.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (4/17/2016 9:15:45 PM)

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. Western Africa.

Three additional transport missions headed for the allied joint command in West Africa have formed up in the East Coast (2 USA air units), Bay of Biscay (CW Amph, Montgomery HQ,7-4 mot and 5-4 infantry) and Gulf of Guinea (CW 5-4 RSA infantry corps). A second USN amph (not shown) currently in the Mouths of the Amazon is in transit to the the command.

The Western Allies have an Italy first strategy and plan to use Vichy North Africa as a stepping stone to the conquest of Italy.

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. USSR, North.

Nothing spectacular by the Soviets. They straighten, and shorten, their lines in the north. Stalin designates Smolensk, Leningrad, Pskov and Novgorod as "Hero Cities". What this means is that no relief is available and these units are on their own for the foreseeable future. And, these units are to hold these cities to the last man and no surrender is allowed. Well, in Stalin speak "no surrender allowed" means that the immediate family of any man that surrenders will be arrested and possibly shot. Unless that family is of fighting age in which case they will immediately sent to the heaviest part of the front to die there for the glory of the "Soviet Motherland".

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. USSR, South.

In the Southern Soviet Union, Stalin designates Odessa to be a "Hero City".

The US only needs 1 convoy to get the oil from Alaska to the lower 48 states.

Thanks? [&:]

If you're referring to the "extra" allied CP I have off the West Coast from last turn I purposely left an unused CP there. My intention was to set up a route from Australia to the USA with the intention of getting at least 1 of the 2 RPs there to the USA for production. While I have the route in place, unfortunately I won't have the trade agreement in place until next turn.

Turn 16. Mar/Apr 1941. Axis #3. Japan. Naval. East Shield.

Japan takes a naval with three objectives in mind.

1. Protect CPs in China and South China Seas.

2. Move available units in place to continue amphibious operations in the South China Sea next impulse.

3. Establish/Maintain Naval Shield.
