You can always retreat to the Eagle's Nest on the Obersalzberg and fight from there. [:D]

STEF78 -> Camerone in Berlin (10-1944 (12/7/2013 3:18:07 PM)

Turn 174, 12th October 1944

Last turn before mud and .... argghh, another major encirclement!!!!

Schascha trapped 10 divs wih the help of an airborne drop (retreat rules should be fixed!)

Curiously, he made a mistake in Danzig as he didn't attack Gdynia. I evacuate my divs!

Just for fun, I attacked the Aiborne regiment just to show that this unit shouldn't have blocked the retreat of 2 full size divs

And a view of Hungary, I think that his goal is the city in red but I will set 3 divs in Budapest and if I've well understood the rules, it should prevent the Hungary surrender.

Yes, airborne brigades can be abused. [:D] And at this stage of the game he practically has unlimited transport capacity which means he never gets any depleted units.

They should really fix the airborne system. It's silly.

I was surprised because you don't make lots of mistakes. This one won't change the end of the game but it gave me 6 Inf Divs which will be very useful!

STEF78 -> Camerone in Berlin (10-1944 (12/7/2013 7:03:03 PM)

Turn 175 19th october 1944

First turn of mud! Almost all the front becomes quiet.

Time to evaluate my summer campaign. I knew it would be hard, but not at this point. I've lost roughly 40 divs with 2 major and 4 minor encirclements.

I've now 91 victory points left and the evolution of the OOB doesn't need any comment.

But above all the morale of my army has been broken due to the multiple defeats and it has a direct effect on the CV of my units.

STEF78 -> Camerone in Berlin (10-1944 (12/7/2013 7:07:05 PM)

Turn 175, 19th october 1944

Some activity in 2 sectors

1) Danzig
Gdynia is left unattacked, so I evacuate the last divs.

2) Hungary

Schascha attacks in order to reach the plain

STEF78 -> Camerone in Berlin (11-1944) (12/10/2013 8:10:14 PM)

Turn 178, 9th november 1944

Mud is away, snow is back and so are MP for SHC...

During the mud my OOB grew up but the evolution in one year show that I've lost half of my AFV and so my ability to counter attack and break the spearheads.

Here are my positions in the north at the beginning of the turn.

I decide to fall back to the moutain in order to reinforce the Oder line.

In the South, the front before my moves

Budapest is well garrisoned, I give ground slowly

But in fact my situation is desesperate, SHC stacks are too mighty.

Would be interesting to see a shot of the German Special Pools: Manpower & ARM

See below the most significant datas of my pool. I would like the 20 000 pre 1943 rifle squads fill my Inf Divs!

Peltonx -> RE: Camerone in Berlin (11-1944) (12/11/2013 7:20:07 PM)

The dam swapping bugs are killing this game starting in late 43 to 45.

Your lines would be fine and you be looking at a draw my friend, but because of piss poor design your not.

And yes Bozo I mean piss poor.

2 people have spent 100's of hours to only have GHC army fall apart because of ****ty swapping bugs.

[:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(]

The up side is it is better now then before.

Before the last patch things fell apart in late 43/early 44 now its late 44 early 45.

Still and issue that hopefully will get fixed in .12 or .13

Few games enter 1944 so there has been almost no tests to fix such bugs.

And I must admit that 99% of the time spent by players in "great campaign" is 1941/1942.

But in fact I would really like to see these rifle squads in my divs!

morvael -> RE: Camerone in Berlin (11-1944) (12/11/2013 7:34:58 PM)

In .13 swapping squads with conversions and automated TOE upgrades is a breeze (and doesn't cost thousands of ARM). Tested it today with 43 campaign :-)

Peltonx -> RE: Camerone in Berlin (11-1944) (12/11/2013 7:38:15 PM)

I knew there was something very very wrong over 12 months ago.

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2792361

but was ignored for a long time before I had 5 on going game 43+ and there were others falling apart also.

I was the only 1 for months posting about it and was basicly called a moron ect ect by everyone, but in the end I was proven right with the help of The 3 Amigos.

This should have been fixed long ago.

It is better, but still requires some major work.

gingerbread -> RE: Camerone in Berlin (11-1944) (12/11/2013 7:47:43 PM)

Thanks for the pic, but I'd wager that most of the 1.2M men and 600k ARM in the pools are other than German, as in Bulgarian, Rumanian or other, but it's only German that matters now (no offence to Hungary intended).

Germans have no men, minor Axis allies have no ARMs. Those squads you have in the pool are just weapons, not weapons plus soldiers, so they have to wait in the arsenal for pick up.

morvael -> RE: Camerone in Berlin (11-1944) (12/11/2013 8:09:17 PM)

Won't help you much when there is no manpower in German pool, mostly Rumania and Hungary will benefit from the patch as they are low on armaments. My answer for now is to spare manpower by using panzer divs for frontline duty - usually AFV situation improves once Panther tanks start production (in my game Axis are over 7000 AFVs). At this stage men are more valuable than tanks.

May be a solution could be a "super" priority in reinforcement.

Due to the encirclement, rebuilding units catch the majority of new rifle or AFV. And I don't want to disband them as I will need new divs to dig behind my lines.

How can I send the majority of the new AFV in the Pzd which are close to Frankfurt an der oder?

STEF78 -> Camerone in Berlin (11-1944) (12/11/2013 8:33:46 PM)

Turn 179, 16th november 1944

SHC attacks with full strength all along the front...

... and breaks the oder line

I gather a large part of my Pzd to counter attack, but I cannot fght againt the second stack!

In Hungary, I continue to trade ground against time

He, he, it's OK to call a design poor. Just not the game play of other people.

Sad to see that this bug makes the later part of the war kind of pointless. I'm glad we stopped out game in August/September 1943.

When is .13 coming out?

morvael -> RE: Camerone in Berlin (11-1944) (12/11/2013 8:52:13 PM)

Maybe Joel will post them before the patch is made available. The list is long... 59 bug fixes, 18 new features and a few pages of info about ground element changes and updated mild blizzard factors.
