I've been waiting for years for Panzer General to be rewritten and updated for modern PC's. A fantastic game without the complexity of most war games. Hopefully updated versions of Allied General and Peoples General won't be far behind. I love it!!

A really nice update to one of my favorite games from the series. There are many more maps and the rendered artwork is, for the most part, up to par with the original map graphics. Graphics for units are also updated and more accurate. More scenarios too. I only have 2 gripes with the game, one very minor and the other, more serious. First for the minor gripe -- some of the newer maps are too large to manage, considering that the units usually fit on only about 1/3 (at most) of the total map. So, you'll find yourself scrolling back and forth at times. Again, a minor gripe for me. The major gripe is the path-finding and AI for units. This was supposedly improved by both the game (and the subsequent updates) but I really haven't noticed a huge improvement. Occasionally, units like tanks will turn in circles for no reason at all (with no obstacles or altitude changes to stand in their way) and, of course, get slaughtered. I still see the 'bee dance' at times, which makes no sense, considering that one of the supposedly improvements to the game is the elimination of this problem from the original game. Still, a very enjoyable game -- both the improved version and the original (which comes with it, but I don't see why you'd want to play it).

For the Eastern Front fan, there is no equal. This game is the true heir to the old monster Eastern Front games from the likes of the sadly defunct SPI. This games level of detail is amazing, from attaching Artillery Regiments to your units, to flying a myriad of different air missions in support of your troops. The map is beautiful, and the game is extremely well supported by it's dedicated staff. If you are into Eastern Front games, look no further.... Gary Grigsbys War in the East has arrived!!

Slitherine - Matrix, Can I have my money back please?? Only plus I can say for this game is the splash screens are nice looking and up to date, but the game itself looks like its from 1989. Not to mention the unit animations are almost nonexistance, they point to the right when going east and then point to the left when going west, go north and its still pointing left or right, also they don't point to the direction they are attacking. How can they claim this is a Panzer Peneral port??, yes maybe Panzer General 1.0 (beta!!) Save $40USD and go check out Open General (make sure to download the user content mega pack!) and bypass this game till the patch it and hope they make it better! Note to Devs.. go play some Open General and see how a Panzer General port should be done!!!

This is the Panzer General / Allied General remake I have been waiting for over 10 years already. It's a dream come true. It is not just a remake, it is a work of love. Just try the "Norway" scenario and you will notice that this game is not one of these wannabe remakes of classics, but that it is true to the spirit of the original. It is not only a good core game, the scenarios are not just 1:1 copies. While being almost identical these scenarios have been tested and polished to retain the original feeling and strategic options of the original Panzer General scenario. It's a work of love, not just a mere copy. That's quality! I would even say Panzer Corps is a little better than the original. Some minor changes to certain mechanics make sense. The game is 99% Panzer General with a few ideas from Panzer General II, like the recon unit special movement. I hope for two things, I would rate this game 4,5 stars but 4 would not do it justice: 1.) A windowed mode. So far the game only runs in fullscreen. 2.) Expansions or further Panzer Corps games. The Panzer General Africa scenarios are missing, and of course all scenarios of Allied General. I bet these are hot candidates for a possible Panzer Corps: Allies.

This is an update for the old Panzer General series but has it been improved in the last 15 year? In graphics and interface yes, much easier on the eye and fluent on the navigating menus. It has a nice little touch in awarding medals and heroes as the war progresses. So what stops me giving it 5 stars? It's the atmosphere, no real improvement on machine gun fire or explosions, well not much. Let me give you an example, when you shoot enemy planes down, no crashes to the ground or a yell of death (as in the original) the icon just disappears and scrolls swiftly on. It's little touchs like this that are missing just like the voice at the end of a mission briefing. I've played Panzer General 2 for years but this one I've soon got bored of playing maybe because it's not all that different in gameplay and should have been a more polished. SUMMARY A expensive rehash of an old game but three stars for effort.

This is everything that Panzer General should have been. And is a great update to that classic. If you are looking for a game that is easy to get into without having a 3 to 5 day learning curve you might want to check this game out. Simply a great game!

Panzercorps is a welcomed break from the hardcore wargames, a little "vacation" if you will, from titles like WITE (a masterpiece in its own right). The graphical improvements over PG are simply outstanding. PC is a much welcomed addition to my wargames library. Simply well done!

1st, the combat report on WIP is better than WIPAE. 2nd, spotting reports should show on the map but not reported. 3rd, if historic schenario, Russians should be skipped (computer controlled). 4th, get rid of "replacing pilots" - especially for the allies. (wastes time). 5th, clarification on ships - Local Minesweepers (cannot escort convoys)have more range than normal minesweepers which cannot escort convoys very far. "x" designator - I have no problem ignoring them. ML (Harbor?) Motor Launch has more range than PT boats and are really useless. Basically the games needs to be cleaned up.

A Jagged Alliance "want-a-be" that just doesn't make it. 2 glaring faults - 1- Overhead view only makes it most difficult to determine terrain contours, height or depth. It's almost impossible to see doors and windows. 2- the view to the ground is too close. You can't zoom out far enough to see enough of the map. As my screen (most of the time)only scrolled left and right (not up and down) and the tree tops didn't disappear (even when they were supposed to), seeing your men and the bad guys is impossible. The good news is the game storyline, graphics and user interface is most acceptable for this game.

One of the best 4x space ive ever played. A wonderful mix between Galactic Civilization 2 and Master of Orion 2. A game complete and deep but not overly complex that increase the playability and funny. this help that you understand every action you do without excess micromanagement. Excelent support by Nitronium (updates) and excelent also the expansion Supernova that complete an excelent strategic game. I recommend it. I hope sincerly one more expansion in the future. Regards

I first was exposed to the original WitP many years ago (don't remember the computer it was on) and enjoyed the game a lot, especially since my Dad had fought in WWII in the Pacific. Lost touch with it for years until a friend told me about WitP-AE. This is a great game and portrays the diffultly on both sides of fighting in a area covering half of the world. There is one thing that is a bit of a problem. Using the Historical first move in 3 day turn mode, the game engine should alow the Allies to react and the Japanese to then set up for starting the 3 day per move option. The game would have a better start.
